Speak (No-Man album)

Speak is a compilation album consisting of previously obscure material by British Art rock band No-Man. Originally, recorded between 1988 and 1989, the songs were re-mixed and re-sung in 1999 (during the band's sessions for Returning Jesus). The songs had only been released on compact cassette earlier in the band's history.

Snapper Music's 2005 reissue of Speak adds the bonus track "The Hidden Art of Man Ray" (an untreated improvisation from 1988). The track also appears as a second disc on the limited edition of Tonefloat's vinyl release of Speak.

Speak (film)

Speak is a 2004 American independent drama based on the award-winning novel of the same name by Laurie Halse Anderson. It stars Kristen Stewart as Melinda Sordino, a high school freshman who practically stops talking after being raped by a senior student. The film is told through Melinda's eyes and is wrought with her sardonic humor and blunt honesty. It was broadcast on Showtime and Lifetime in 2005 after premiering at the Sundance Film Festival in 2004.

Plot

14-year-old Melinda Sordino (Kristen Stewart) starts out her freshman year in high school struggling on the first day. She doesn't have any friends to hang out with, and appears awkward and uncomfortable when speaking to others. Throughout the day, she is pointed at by many students and is repeatedly called a "squealer". A series of flashbacks reveal that she called the police when at a house party during the previous summer. Her real reason for calling 9-1-1 was that she was raped at the party by a senior student, Andy Evans (Eric Lively), but while on the phone, she was unable to talk to the police about what happened, and when the police arrived, she did not report the rape. The party was crashed, causing mayhem and everyone to flee from the police.

Speak (stylized SPEAK) is a synthpop band from Austin, Texas formed in 2008. The band consists of Troupe Gammage (keyboard and lead vocals), Nick Hurt (guitar and vocals), Joey Delahoussaye (bass and vocals), and Jake Stewart (drums). The band released their debut single Carrie in 2011, and their debut album I Believe In Everything in late 2011.

History

Beginning

Speak had its beginnings with Jupiter-4, a band founded by high school friends Troupe Gammage, Jake Stewart, and Nick Hurt. The band became Speak when bassist Joey Delahoussaye joined the group in 2008. In 2010 they won the Austin Music Award for Best New Band and the following year won the award for Best Indie Group. They garnered attention in 2010, when they performed at the 2010 Austin City Limits Music Festival. Their debut EP, Hear Here, was released in February 2010 and garnered positive reviews, with The A. V. Club giving the EP a B+ and the Austin Chronicle giving 4 stars out of 4 saying that Speak is "poised to change the musical landscape." In 2011 Speak accompanied Tally Hall and Casey Shea across a national tour of the United States.

Hardcourt

A hardcourt (or hard court) is a surface or floor on which a sport is played, most usually in reference to tennis courts. They are typically made of rigid materials such as asphalt or concrete, and covered with acrylic material to seal the surface and mark the playing lines, while providing some cushioning. Historically, hardwood surfaces were also in use in indoor settings, similar to an indoor basketball court, but these are now rare.

Tennis hard courts are made of synthetic/acrylic layers on top of a concrete or asphalt foundation and can vary in color. These courts tend to play medium-fast to fast because there is little energy absorption by the court, like in grass courts. The ball tends to bounce high and players are able to apply many types of spin during play. Flat balls are favored on hard courts because of the extremely quick play style. Speed of rebound after tennis balls bounce on hard courts is determined by how much sand is in the synthetic/acrylic layer placed on top of the asphalt foundation. More sand will result in a slower bounce due to more friction.

Normally it is assumed that the reduction in question does not have higher computational complexity than the class itself. Therefore it may be said that if a C-complete problem has a "computationally easy" solution, then all problems in "C" have an "easy" solution.
